On April 9, 2024 at the Sine Die City Council Meeting, Doug Abele was honored and celebrated for his dedicated, selfless service to the citizens for Boonville and Cooper County, Missouri by the Mayor, City Council, and meeting attendees.

Mayor Ned Beach presented a Proclamation to Doug Abele and Proclaimed Tuesday, April 9, 2024 as: “Doug Abele Day”.

Doug has served citizens of Boonville as City Counselor – from 1978-1982 and then again from 2019-2024. Doug has been an active member of multiple civic organizations and has served as President of the Boonville Jaycees, Boonville Kiwanis Club, Boonville High School Alumni Association, Friends of Historic Boonville, and the Boonville Area Chamber of Commerce. Doug was elected as Prosecuting Attorney for Cooper County, Missouri in 1982, taking office in 1983, and served in that capacity until 2018; serving nine terms, 36 years of service to the citizens of Cooper County as Prosecuting Attorney.  Doug’s tenure was the longest continuing service as a Prosecuting Attorney in the State of Missouri.  Doug continued to serve as the Assistant Prosecuting Attorney for Cooper County, Missouri from January 2019 through April 2024.

The City of Boonville expresses sincere appreciation to Doug for his exceptional service to the City of Boonville and Cooper County and wish him much happiness and success as he begins this new chapter in his life. We congratulate Doug for his outstanding career with the City of Boonville and Cooper County and wish him a Happy Retirement!
